Global Citizen Spotlight: Maddy Prince
Nov 21, 2014 09:45:00

Maddy is a Global Citizen from Downtown Toronto.  She goes to univesity in Guelph, Ontario and has travelled around Canada, Italy and the Dominican Republic. (She's even gone across France on a bicycle!)

1. Which global city best represents your personal style?

Maybe Tofino, where I live in an extremely rugged “end of the road” town. The ocean, the trees and the rain all make for a beautifully diverse ecosystem that soothes my soul. But such a small coastal town lacks in cultural diversity, which I think is really important. I really enjoy a transient lifestyle so I can appreciate different aspects of multiple places.

2. If the globe is your home, where would the kitchen be?

My kitchen would be in a city like Toronto, where there is immense cultural diversity, so I can eat food from around the world.

3. Which city inspires you the most?

I don’t think there’s a particular city that answers this question, but I could say standing on the coast looking out into the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by mountains and tall trees is probably one of the places where I feel most inspired. I also get this sense of inspiration when I surf and am tossed around in the waves -- I feel complete fulfilment and inspiration to live life to the fullest. I guess you could say I’m most inspired by nature.

4. Which destination are you dying to visit next?

Probably most excited to travel to South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia. I’d love to follow the sun and stay warm during the winter. I’m most intrigued by Indonesia at the moment but my thoughts and plans change constantly, so it is hard to say exactly where.  Right now, I have plans to travel around Latin America next semester but who knows where I’ll end up!

5. If you could only take 3 items on a trip, what would those be?

1) Journal 2) Sleeping Bag 3) Camera
